We’re excited to launch USM’s 13Hacks, the first-ever Sikh student-led hackathon, taking place at UC Berkeley from January 23–25, 2026. This event was inspired by the desire to create a space where students of all backgrounds can gain hands-on experience, develop hirable skills, and connect with mentors from industry and the Sikh community.

Our project matters because it bridges learning with real-world application, helping students build projects they can showcase on their resumes and portfolios. Beyond technical skills, 13Hacks emphasizes mentorship and Sikh values including...

Sangat (community),

Seva/Sarbat da Bhala (service for others),

and Himmat (courage to step out of comfort zones).

This ensures students not only gain professional growth but also personal development rooted in community and purpose.
